ARTours – Augmented Reality Meets Heritage
Immersive, multilingual, and on-demand experiences that transform historical visits into unforgettable stories, without the need for a guide.
The Problem
Visiting historic sites should feel like stepping into the past, but too often, it feels like standing in front of old rocks, listening passively to someone recite a script.
Tour guides often sound monotone, generic, or disconnected from the emotion of the place.
Mixed-language groups are stuck waiting for translations, or juggling self-guided devices.
Pre-recorded audio tours rarely sync with where you're looking, and it’s easy to miss key moments.
Most importantly: there’s no real interaction. You’re just absorbing information, not experiencing history.
Today’s historical experiences are static and forgettable, especially for younger or tech-savvy audiences. We believe they deserve better.
The Solution
ARTours transforms ancient sites into living storyworlds, blending technology with time travel. Visitors rent lightweight AR glasses directly from the museum or use their own smartphone. As they walk, scenes from the past unfold, precisely where they happened. GPS and LiDAR reveal reconstructions, actors, and guides that move as you move. Audio, visuals, side quests, and personalization make the experience deep and unforgettable.
Why Now
🏛️ Heritage sites are looking for new ways to engage post-pandemic audiences.
🎧 Younger travellers and school groups expect tech-enhanced, on-demand storytelling — not static plaques and recorded scripts.
📱 Smartphones already in visitors’ pockets are powerful enough for high-quality AR, removing the hardware barrier that held earlier attempts back.
Vision & Impact
ARTours isn’t just about enhancing a tour, it’s about reconnecting people to history in a way that feels alive, personal, and unforgettable.
From reviving lost worlds and transforming education to boosting local tourism and preserving digital memory, ARTours bridges culture and innovation.
Competitive Advantage
- Smart Triggers: GPS + LiDAR + object recognition offer unmatched real-time precision.
- Modular Platform: Localized scene packs reduce dev time while boosting cultural accuracy.
- User Modes: Tailored visits (quick, thematic, deep) for maximum flexibility.
- Active Engagements: Partnerships with site curators, ministries, and tourism agencies underway.
How It Could Work
ARTours is designed around a few simple ideas: license site-specific experiences to museums and tourism boards, offer a free public app with optional paid expansions, and partner with cultural institutions on shared releases. The model and exact mix would be shaped together with launch partners.
A Note From the Founder
I grew up surrounded by ancient ruins, and always felt frustrated by how little they spoke to us. ARTours was born from a deep belief that history shouldn't just be seen, it should be felt.
As a creative technologist and entrepreneur, I’ve spent the last decade building immersive experiences. This is the project I’ve always wanted to exist.
